Political Science via Ted Rall

Whoops, it looks like my plan to syndicate cartoonists via this site was a bit hasty. Here is the comic.

Speaking of Israel and Iran

Here's 2 video links that have made the rounds but that give me some hope:

Hypernova, from Iran. "Stop The Madness" (Here is a cover of "Bonzo Goes to Bitburg" as well.

Teapacks, this year's Israeli Eurovision entry. "Push The Button"

Oh Well, Armageddon

Khatami tells Israeli reporters to 'go to hell'
So much for the "Jimmy Carter of Iran". At least Ahmadinejad (pretty much the Ronald Reagan model: inspiring rhetoric; high debts) has more integrity, fruitcake-wise. I say, if we have a dialogue with Iran, Marjane Satrapi is the one I want to talk to. (Of course, for official representation of the US, Art Spiegelman would cover state matters. )

If you want a good obit, be a journalist

First of all, I respect David Halberstam's work. And he deserved every
word of praise he recieved today.

But an observation: his obit today in the Times is amazing. Presidents
don't get this kind of love. Much the way that getting a good table or a
tough reservation in a popular restaurant in NYC can require that you be
either a famous heart surgeon or a busboy in that restaurant-- If having a
good obit is important to you, consider a career in journalism.

"Tall, square-jawed and graced with an imposing voice so deep that it seemed to begin at his ankles, Mr. Halberstam came into his own as a journalist in the early 1960s covering the nascent American war in South Vietnam for The New York Times."

Kultur Vulture Beat

Just got a copy of My Life In The Bush of Ghosts. 1981, wow. Sounds like Remain in Light's weird (better dressed) older brother. There is a deleted cut called "Qu'ran" I can't find. A small part of my brain cells are exclusively dedicated to looking for missing tracks like that. Hey, These guys are good.

Check out Morrison & Quitely's All Star Superman? The latest has a reworking of Bizarro that's pretty good. Of course, Alan Moore did it 20 years ago..."Hello, Superman, Hello.." Still, in a world without Curt Swan, we do the best we can.

Taschen has a thick, lavishly illustrated (architecture porn?) book called "Architecture Now! 4". One T. Han Tilluca calls it "A 'K-Tel' collection of the top 40".

Speaking of porn, here is a deconstruction of food porn & restaurant reviews which rocks (via, I think, BoingBoing, but worth posting anyhow).

And, wait, "Make The Logo Bigger" (via Jay O'Connell) A song, great comments from graphic designers.

Finally, a documentary about Helvetica. "Visually, the film delivers what it promises: Lots of Helvetica. In all forms."

Boycott British journalists

"If British journalists really want to boycott Israeli goods, they better give up their desktop and notebook computers and their mobile phones, all of which have components developed and manufactured in Israel."

Story here.

Picassa on the Mac

I installed the trial version of Parallels and Win2000 in order to test
browser compatiblility. And then, given the speed of this app, tried out
Picassa. WOW. Virtual PC was never like this. And neither is iPhoto.

Until Google makes Picassa for the Mac, I have a great new tool and it is just sitting in my Dock along with my Mac apps.

Great Stuff.

Comment: My brother, Adam, says: "Yes, aren't chametz and Picassa great?" Passover finally ended with a bowl of spicy ramen while the slideshow rolled.

8 Year Old's GTD System

This was a letter written by my 8 year old niece to her mom. Getting Things Done!
(Here is a contact sheet of her mugging it up as well.)
